13 Nigerian Soldiers Confirmed Dead And Several Others Injured After Stepping On a Landmine Planted By Boko Haram Terrorists

No fewer than 13 soldiers were killed and an unconfirmed number of the Nigerian soldiers have been known to be severely wounded in Borno State early last week when they stepped on a landmine planted by Boko Haram members.

According to a report as gathered by Idonsabi.com, the soldiers were known to be moving along Gwoza-Yamteke Road in Gwoza Local Government Area when a military operational truck stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) buried underneath the road by unknown Boko Haram members and destroyed the truck beyond repairs.

More reports from security sources this time further revealed that eight soldiers were killed on the spot while three more died subsequently, with dozens were critically injured.

A source said in a statement:

“A military Mitsubishi was truck struck by the IED device; the scene was horrible and the soldiers were critically wounded.”

Meanwhile, there were photos of the shattered bodies of the soldiers, as proof of the attack, but they are too gory and disturbing for public viewing.

The Army has not publicly come out to have a say on the incident as at the time of filing this report.

However, what we can be able to deduce from this latest attack is that Boko Haram insurgents have in recent weeks stepped up their attacks in the southern part of Borno state.
