25 Fulani Associations Distance Self From Miyetti Allah’s Endorsement Of Buhari

Not less than 25 Fulani associations under the aegis of Concerned Fulani Leaders distanced themselves from the recent endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari by Miyetti Allah.

Speaking at a news conference in Kaduna on Tuesday, the leader of the groups, Alhaji Walid Jibrin remarked that the recent decision of the National Executive was not in the interest of the Fulanis.

He said Miyetti has a Board of Trustees under the chairmanship of the Sultan of Sokoto, while the Emir of Zazzau, Emir of Kano, Lamido of Adamawa, Emir of Katsina as members. Thus, that no one could take major decisions without the support of others.


2019: EU Observers Warn INEC, Security Agencies, Politicians

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to the Nigerian election,  said on Tuesday in Abuja that stakeholders involved in the conduct of the elections must abide by the rules guiding the elections.

The Chief Observer of the EU EOM in Nigeria, Maria Arena, who also warned against any attempt to heat up the polity by the political stakeholders.

She said that the Mission would monitor the processes and report on the adherence to the rules guiding the elections.


Governors Are Backing Buhari Because Of Bailouts ― Governor Yari

Governors across the parties divide are supporting President Muhamamadu Buhari in his aspiration for fresh mandate next month.

Zamfara State governor and Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum, (NGF) Abdul Aziz Yari made the startling revelation on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Zamfara State governor said over 27 governors would not have been able to stay in their states but for the financial succour rendered to the states by President Buhari.


Organised Labour Rejects N27,000 Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the N27,000 new National Minimum Wage adopted by the National Council of State on Tuesday.

Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, the NLC General Secretary said that the council has no jurisdiction determining another amount after a Tripartite Committee has submitted its report.

Ozo-Eson further said the NLC has called an emergency National Executive Council meeting for Friday to weigh on the deadline given to government within which to submit an executive bill to the National Assembly.


PDP Lashes Out At Tinubu Over Comments On OBJ

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lashed out at the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu over his comments against former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing it as “disrespectful, reckless, unguarded and indecorous.”

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the Party stated that: “Tinubu in his tirade against the former President sounded like a disrobed ruler facing a pang of defeat as he watches his empire being legitimately taken.”

According to the Party, “It is shocking that ‘Asiwaju of Lagos’ can be in cahoots with President Muhammadu Buhari, a known anti-democrat, who has always been in league with all known dictators, while at the same time claiming to be on the side of democrats.”


PDP Will Create Wealth, Honour Traditional Rulers ― Makinde

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has assured the people of the state that his administration in the state will create wealth to solve major security and economic problems in the state and give due honour to the traditional rulers in the state.

Makinde stated this when the PDP campaign team visited the Afasegbejo of Igbeti, Oba Emmanuel Oyebisi, at his palace on Tuesday.


Be Neutral, DG NYSC, Tells Corps Members

The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Suleiman Kazaure has warned corps members serving in the state to be neutral and non-partisan in the forthcoming elections.

He stated this during his sensitisation visit to corps members with respect to the elections at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to him, any corps member who engages in any form of election malpractice will be prosecuted.


Ekiti Govt. Sacks EKSU VC, CoE Provost

The Ekiti State government has sacked the Vice Chairman of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Professor Sam Oye Bandele; the Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Dr Kolawole Ogundipe and the Provost, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Mojisola Oyarekua.

A government statement, on Tuesday, also announced the appointment of a sole administrator for the College of Health Sciences, Ijero-Ekiti.

The statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said the governor also approved the appointment of governing councils for the various institutions.


Atiku’s Recipe Sure Way To Disaster ― Emefiele

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr. Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday described some recipe prescribed for the revitalisation of the economy by Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as an invitation to disaster and a sure way to perdition.

Emefiele said the committee reviewed Atiku’s recommendation of free-floating the currency “and concluded that it would be the wrong step to take.

“It is as good as saying that we should go back to the era of Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) in Nigeria. The implication can better be imagined.


I’m Happy With INEC’s Readiness For Election ― Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has told the European Union Observer Mission (EOM) that he is satisfied with the level of preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the exercise.

He said he is therefore optimistic that the electoral body would deliver on its mandate of a credible poll.

Receiving the EOM, led by the Chief Observer and member of the European Parliament, Maria Arena, at the State House, the President said he had listened earlier in the day, to the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, when he briefed the National Council of State.
