2019 General Election: Nigerian Police To Remain Neutral

– The Nigerian Police Force NPF via a recent statement has vowed to remain neutral in the coming 2019 General Election

– NPF assured that there are ongoing plans to train the Police Force and also provide them with allowance

There have been previous allegations making round that the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress APC are planning to connive with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and securities agencies to rig the forthcoming election.

The Nigeria Police Force in a counter statement has made it clear that they will remain neutral in the coming election.

According to the statement released, the Nigerian Police Force affirmed that the security agency remains apolitical and neutral.

The statement further read that the force will, however, remain loyal to the Nigerian constitution and the members of the public.

In the forthcoming General Election, we are assuring Nigerians that the Police will be apolitical and neutral. Our loyalty is to the constitution, laws of the federation and the people of Nigeria,” the statement read.

The Police also assured that they ‘will provide a level playing field for all, whether politician, activist or CSO.

According to the statement, the NPF are already going through different training ahead of the General election.

The security agency also hinted that allowance will be provided for personnel and that there will be supervisions of personnel taking part in the electoral exercise.

“We are very much ready for the General Election, training of our personnel is ongoing, allowance and dry ration will be provided for policemen on election duty and adequate supervision/monitoring of our personnel on election duty will be done,” the statement read.
In a previous statement released by the Police PRO, ACP Frank Mba, the NPF are ready to come closer to the people and are making reforms in the SARS.
