2019 General Election: The US only interested in free and fair election

– The United States has made it stance known over the forthcoming General election in Nigeria

– The US disclosed it doesn’t have a candidate and is only interested in a free an fair election

General Consul of the United States of America to Nigeria,  Ambassador John Bay in a new statement has disclosed where the US stand in the forthcoming election in the West African country.

Ambassador John Bay made it known that the United States doesn’t have a presidential candidate and have not endorsed anyone for the post.

He, however, disclosed that the United States is only after a free and fair election in the forthcoming Presidential Election.

Ambassador John Bay made this known on Thursday during his visit to Bayelsa State.

According to a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Gov. of Bayelsa State, Fidelis Soriwei, he quoted Ambassador Jonh Bay during his visit to the Governor at the Governor’s house.

He said: “The US does not have a candidate in this election. We are looking for a free, fair, credible and peaceful process, a process that allows the choice of the Nigerian citizens to come through.

John Bay disclosed that the US was ready to help in anyway it can.

He said, “So, we are going to spend some time with the governor and chat about different things we might be able to do to better the situation and anything we can do to help before leaving here for Port Harcourt tomorrow.”

This recent statement comes after the Gov. of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai in a statement on National TV threatened any international observer, who tries to interfere in the electoral process of the country.

Nasir El-Rufai has been heavily criticized for the statement with the PDP calling on international communities to place a travel ban on him.
