Five Abuja residents have been arrested and paraded by the police after storming Wuse General Hospital, FCT with false claims of having contracted Coronavirus.
The five suspects gave their names as; Peggy Shandi (M), Abayomi Adedoyin (M), David Gold Enemigin (M) Priscilla Ajesola (F) and Jacob Oji (M).
The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manza, who paraded them said that the suspects claimed to be playing out a script about the virus without the knowledge or authorization of the relevant authorities of the FCT.
As reported by Vanguard, the pranksters went to Wuse General Hospital claiming that one of them had been infected with the Coronavirus. This led to “panic and confusion as well as a disruption of normal health service delivery at the hospital.”
One of the pranksters, Peggy Shandi confirmed to the police that their action was just a prank.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command who are still investigating the case said the suspects would be charged to court.
This is coming after World Health Organization (WHO) listed 13 African countries including Nigeria as high risk countries for Coronavirus.
