50 Cent burns all his Gucci wears, boycotts Gucci

American rapper and actor, 50 Cent has burnt all the Gucci wears he owns as he joins the call to boycott the Gucci designer.

The call came after Gucci released a sweater which many find racist and offensive because it reminded the blacks of the Blackface caricature.

Blackface is a form of theatrical make-up used by non-black performers to represent a caricature of a black person. Blackface contributed to the spread of racial stereotypes in the 19th century.

So in reaction to the blackface sweater, 50 Cent said:

“I gotta get rid of all the Gucci I have at home. I’m not supporting their brand anymore.“

Although Gucci has issued an apology and removed the sweater from their stores, many blacks are still offended and are boycotting their brand.

Celebrities who have joined the call to Boycott Gucci are rapper T.I, Spike Lee, Soulja Boy and now 50 Cent who shared a video of him burning his Gucci wear at home on Instagram.
