Abia Election : Ikpeazu Commends the Navy for ensuring security during the general election

7— Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the executive governor of Abia state has commended the efforts of the Navy in protecting the lives and properties of the people of the state, especially during the recent General election. 

—He further assured the navy of the readiness of his administration to continue to provide logistics and infrastructure for the Navy college in the state. 

 

In a congratulatory speech by the governor of Abia state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, he has commended members of the Nigerian Navy for the important role they played as regards security of the state during the recent general election which went peacefully and in tranquility.

This happened during the convocation ceremony of the Nigerian Navy Finance and Logistics College, NNFLC, Owerrinta in Abia state.

Governor Ikpeazu praised the Nigerian navy alongside other security agencies in the state for the important roles they played in making sure the state was secured and free of violence before, during and after the elections.

The governor was represented during the convocation ceremony by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko-Chukwu. The Deputy governor mentioned that since the school was established in the state, it has gone a long way in ensuring the security of life and property of not only the people of Owerrinta, but rather the state at large.

He further charged them to continue in securing the state from internal and terrestrial invasions. He also praised the efforts of the rector of the school for the successful presentation of the diploma courses.

The governor in his speech assured the navy of the readiness of his administration to continue to provide logistics and infrastructure for the college within the resources available so that they could continue to protect the host community and the entire state at all times.

In the welcome speech of the Rector of the college, Navy Capt Omotola Omotayo Olukoya, he mentioned that the event was the maiden edition which is for three different sets of graduating students of 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018.

In his words, “It is worthy to note that since the inception of the academic branch which is National Diploma (ND) section, the college has turned out three sets of ND graduates in accountancy and they include, one Distinction, 22 Upper Credit, 42 Lower Credit and 4 Pass”.

Navy Capt Olukoya also explained the college is making efforts to get the National Board for Technical Education to accredit the Higher National Diploma in accountancy and some course such as ND in Hospitality management, Purchasing and Supply and Marketing.

The event was graced by. Officers from sister agencies and an award of the sum of N100,000 each year for the best graduating accountancy student was institutionalized by the deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko-Chukwu.
