Actress Genevieve Nnaji Berates Actor Deyemi Okanlawon For Making A Joke Of The WSW Challenge
Women all around the world are participating in the WomenSupportingWomen challenge where they share black and white pictures of themselves and tag others to do the same.
Meanwhile, some Nigerian male celebrities including Deyemi Okanlawon also participated in the challenge meant for women.
The actor took a picture, dressed as a woman and posted it on his Instagram page.
This challenge is to promote women empowerment, for women to raise their voices and show solidarity to women we’ve lost.
Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji criticized the actor for making jokes out of a serious movement.
She wrote; “we seek solace in humor to distract us from pain or discomfort. Tell me, what it is you feel exactly?
“You see, that feeling that triggered you to make a joke of a movement tht can only be understood by those it was meant for; the feeling of being overlooked and disregarded is part of the point ofvthe challenge. No one likes to feel invisible. You felt it for a second. Women feel it everyday of their live. Let us hold our hands if we want to. Be ok with it. Not everything is about you or for laughs.”
Deyemi Okanlawon later apologized in a new post.
