Air Peace: You Have Displayed A Rare Act of Patriotism That Ought to Be Celebrated, Gbajabiamila Lauds Onyema

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Fermi Gbajabiamila has lauded the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace airline, Allen Onyema for his display of rare patriotism in coming to the rescue of Nigerians who suffered xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Speaker stated this on Wednesday as members of the House of Representatives gave Onyema a rousing standing ovation when he came into the chambers on the invitation of the lawmakers while others approached him for an embrace and shake hands with him.

Onyema was invited by the lawmakers for commendation for offering free services bringing Nigerian citizens caught up in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa back home.

In his address, the Speake commended the airline boss over the humanitarian roles he played in the wake of xenophobic attacks on foreigners, including Nigerians in South Africa, saying it is was a rare show of patriotism that ought to be celebrated.

“We hereby commend Mr Allen Onyeama and recommend him to the federal government for higher honours in Nigeria,” the Speaker said.

In his response, thanked the lawmakers for the honour, adding that his actions were spontaneous and he would do anything to evacuate even a single Nigerian and also seized the opportunity to call for unity across the country.
