Ajax Vs Real Madrid UCL 13 February Preview

Eredivise giants, Ajax will welcome defending Champions, Real Madrid to Amsterdam for the first leg encounter of their last 16 Champions League tie.

Ajax

Ajax will be making an appearance at this stage of the competition since they last did in the 2005/2006 campaign and have not fared well in their matches against the Spanish giants losing in their six last matches against them.

Infact, they have won only two of their last fourteen games against Spanish opposition. That said, this season could spell something different for them as they have remained unbeaten in Europe this term drawing twice against Bayern Munich.

They have been incredible in front of goal this season notching an impressive or rather outstanding 71 goals in 12 matches and will be looking forward to show Real Madrid the stuff they are made of.

Real Madrid

Madrid are the chiefs of this competition having won the most number of titles and the first club to win three consecutive Champions league. This is the 23rd campaign in this competition for the club and the 23rd time they’ve progressed to the Champions League.

However, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has left their hopes of winning the Champions League or even the LaLiga hanging. Madrid President, Florentina Perez has increasingly talked about the need for the club to sign a Galactico, one they have failed to do yet.

Although, the club has been in dismal form since the departure of the Portuguese talisman, they seem to have turned a corner with their most recent win coming against Barcelona.

They will be hopeful to beat Ajax, a lesser known name in the competition and progress to the next round
