Ajax Vs Real Madrid UCL 13 February Review

Real Madrid thumped their Dutch counterparts, Ajax to a 2-1 win with a controversial VAR win snatching most parts of the headlines for the fixture.

Ajax were the more spirited team in this fixture and they will be gutted by their goal which was disqualified by VAR decision.

Nicolas Tagliafico nodded a ball home only for a VAR decision to be disqualified after Dusan Tadic was adjudged to be in an offside position and standing in front of Thibaut Courtois.

This decision caused an uproar at the Johan Cruyff Arena, sparking outrage on social media for misinterpretations of the offside law.

The decision grabbed all the talking points of the first half with Ajax putting all they can muster into the game, but the goal just couldn’t come.

In the second half, Vinicius Jr. made a fine run on the left flank after a series of fine passes released the 18-yr Brazilian to make a go at the box.

Vinicius marauded through Ajax defenders with one of his markers latched onto his back flung away like a tick from a dog. The Brazilian after creating enough space made a fine pass to Karim Benzema who made a rasping finish into the top-left corner of Ajax’s post. There was no way he was going to miss.

Ajax were soon rewarded for their brilliant play when Ziyech side-footed home after a sweeping move having latched onto a delivery from David Neres on the left.

It was all level but Real Madrid were not done, at least not yet. Marco Asensio had the last laugh as he netted the second o the night for the Spanish giants after latching on to a cross from Carvajal.

Ajax claimed a foul in the build-up to the goal with appeals for foul falling on deaf ears. Real will take the slim chance to the Bernabeu hoping to get the better of a brilliant Ajax team in the Spanish Capital.

Ajax 1-2 Real Madrid it ended.
