Alexander-Arnold Etches Name In Guinness Book Of Records

Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold has etched his name in the Guinness World Record following his exceptional performance for Liverpool last term.

The defender earned his name in the record books following his incredible 12 assists across all competitions.

The English man deservedly earned the spot having set a record for the most assists provided by a defender in a single season.

In order to reach this enviable position, the 2020-year-old had to eclipse the previous records set by the Everton duo of Andy Hinchcliffe and Leighton Baines.

While last term was an explosive season for the player individually, he was quick to pay tribute to his teammates who he said had contributed to him hitting that mark.

“It’s an honour. I’ve always wanted to go forward and help the team to create as many chances as possible,” Alexander-Arnold said via The Mirror .

“It’s obviously down to the lads to put the ball into the back of the net, because football is a team game and without them this record wouldn’t be possible.

“It’s an unbelievably proud moment for me and my family, and something I hope will stand for a few years.”

In his tribute to his teammates, he singled out two defenders who helped him to making that record.

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson also fetched him an enviable number of assists in 11 while the dominant figure of Van Dijk at the heart of the defence allowed the full-back to pour forward and contribute in the attack.

“[Robertson] probably thought he had the competition wrapped up!” he said.

“Near the end of the season we both hit really good form, we were both getting lots of assists and it was good to help the team in those games that we needed to win.

“[Van Dijk] is a world-class player and the best I have played with. We benefited a lot last season knowing we have players like Virgil giving us the protection behind us.”
