Alleged Mosque Demolition: Ganduje vows to sue Wike

  • Wike had denied demolishing a Mosque.

The story of a demolition of Rainbow Town Central Mosque located at the Trans-Amadi Area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has continued to generate a lot of controversy despite the claim of the governor, Nyesom Wike that no mosque was on the demolished site.

It all started with a video which went viral on the social media where Muslims were filmed praying on the demolished site with a cation that it was demolished by the state government in an alleged attack on the Muslims.

The governor had claimed that it wasn’t a mosque that was on the site and people that built on the land didn’t get government approval.

Reacting to the story, the Kano state government has vowed to institute legal action against Wike over the alleged demolition of Rainbow Town Central Mosque located at the Trans-Amadi Area of Port Harcourt.

Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to Ganduje in a press statement described the “sad story of Mosque demolition in Rivers state as shocking and promised that necessary lawful action must be taken over the happening. ”

Ganduje said he would institute “legal action against this demolition of the Mosque as well contest it with appropriate authorities for redress”

“We received this information with high degree of shock. And I am assuring the general public that, all necessary action against this demolition will be taken through appropriate authorities,” Anwar quoted his principal as saying.

While calling on the public to remain calm and peaceful and go about their normal businesses, Ganduje noted that: “As government, we have started touching appropriate quarters against the demolition.

“Kano state is known for peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians, we should, therefore, improve on that and remain calm and peaceful. People should live peacefully with one another.”
