Amina Mohammed, Kayode Fayemi and Babajide Sanwo-Olu join Muslims to welcome Ramadan

– Amina Mohammed, Kayode Fayemi and Babajide Sanwo-Olu have joined Muslim faithfuls to welcome the Ramadan month

The Spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar yesterday declared that the Ramadan fasting will commence today after the new moon was sighted.

Following the announcement by the Sultan, Nigerians have taken to various platforms to welcome the Ramadan month.

Top Nigerian leaders like Amina Mohammed J the deputy secretary-general at the United Nations UN, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Lagos State Governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu among others have also welcomed the Ramadan month.

Amina Mohammed J in her statement said that Ramadan is the time to gather with families and friends but she stressed that it is also a period to share meals, help others and reduce food wastage.

She wrote via her Twitter handle, “#Ramadan Mubarak to all celebrating! It’s the time to gather with family & friends for Iftars, but while doing so let’s not forget those 821 million who do not get enough food to eat daily. This #Ramadan, I call on all to share meals, help others & reduce food waste. #GlobalGoals.

Ekiti state Governor, Kayode Fayemi in his statement said, ” As today mark the start of the holy month of Ramadan, I wish to extend the felicitations to our Moslem brothers and sisters as they embark on the 30 day fast. #RamadanMubarak.”

The Lagos state Governor-elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his statement urged Muslim faithfuls to be thoughtful and helpful during the fasting period.

He said, “As our Muslim brothers & sisters begin the holy month of #Ramada, I will like to wish them a fruitful & empowering month of prayers & fasting. To our non-Muslim brethren, please be thoughtful & helpful as they go through this spiritual experience #RamadanKareem
