Ander Herrera has now confirmed his expected departure from Manchester United with Paris Saint Germain his likely destination.
The 29-yr old midfielder will have his contract at Old Trafford expire this summer and is reported to have committed to the French giants over another option.
His departure was confirmed when the 2017 Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year recipient posted a farewell message to Manchester United and it’s numerous fans all across the world via the club’s official Twitter account.
“There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first time I played here and in the moment that I started to wear it.
“A club with thousands of fans that respect and remember all the players who give everything.
“I felt special when I heard my name chanted. I felt proud when the fans decided I was part of this incredible history.
“Everytime I represented this club, in every game, in wins and losses, even when I couldn’t help from the grass, I understood what this club means.”
He pledged to remember each of the matches he played in a United Jersey and admitted that playing for the club was a great honour while addressing the club as the greatest club in England.
Several Twitter handles and Manchester United fans have come out enmasse to criticize Ed Woodward and the board of the club for allowing the brilliant midfielder go on a free transfer.
Some of these tweets pointed out that it was wrong and highly disappointing for Herrera to be left to go on a free while the likes of Young and Phil Jones – who many believe not to be excellent players – were given extended contracts with wages of 110,000 pounds and 130,000 pounds respectively.
Herrera further added that though he wasn’t English nor from Manchester but that he really loved the club.
“I know I am not English and I am not from Manchester, but I really love this club”
