Anthony Joshua Prostrates for Buhari in London, Says He Is Proud of His Achievement

World champion, Anthony Joshua has said he is proud to be a Nigeria, lauding the track record of  President Muhammadu Buhari.

He stated this when he met the president in London on Saturday.

The Nigerian-born British boxer was introduced by the chairperson of Nigeria in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa to the president.

“My full name Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua,. I started doing my own research, on the connection between Africa as a whole.

“It’s amazing to hear what am connected with. Even though I am running my own track with boxing, but here I meet great people. Your excellency, and to listen to some of your achievement, and visions that you have for Nigeria makes me feel so proud. ”

It could be recalled that the president arrived in London where he will be participating in the inaugural UK-Africa Investment Summit which holds on Monday, January 20, 2020.

The summit which will be hosted by the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is expected to bring together African leaders, international business chief executives, and heads of international organisations.

The president congratulated Joshua who recently his IBF, WBO, and WBA against Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia.

He later prostrated for the President as a sign of respect for elders in Yoruba culture to the admiration of all who clapped.



Buhari was accompanied by Gombe governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and Okezie Ikpeazu of Gombe and Abia State.

During his stay, he is expected to also hold a meeting with the Head of the Commonwealth, Prince Charles in Glasgow, Scotland.

The president and his delegation will also have bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Johnson as well as heads of multilateral organisations.

He is expected back in Abuja next Thursday.
