Appropriate Persons Are Yet to Come for Sowore – DSS

  • Service says it would release Sowore to appropriate persons.

The Department of State Service (DSS) has insisted that it will continue to detain the convener of the #RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore till appropriate persons have not come for his release.

This was stated at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, by the spokesman for the Service, Peter Afunanya.

While claiming that officials of the service were being threatened, he said DSS has continued to hold the rights of citizens in high standards.

He further explained that those who came for Sowore’s release were protesters and administrative procedures must be followed for him to be released and added that only the persons who stood as sureties for Sowore can secure his release from the DSS custody.

Weeks after meeting his bail conditions alongside co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, Sowore has remained in the custody of the Service after they were arraigned by the Federal Government on charges of treasonable felony and money laundering among others which they had pleaded not guilty to.

His lawyer, Femi Falana, later announced that Sowore and Bakare have met their conditions and expecting their release.
