Arsenal Look To Sign Dayot Upamecano

Arsenal are seeking to land a central defender in RB Leipzig defender,  Dayot Upamecano as they agree to selling Laurent Koscielny to Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux.

The Gunners eye Dayot and would have to battle down the clock in a bid to land the centre-back. Meanwhile, they also see Daniele Rugani as an alternative.

Koscielny, 34 is currently in France to undergo a series of medical tests ahead of a €5million move to the Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux, with a deal expected to materialize in the next 24 hours.

The North London club had been reluctant to see their captain leave even after the 34 year old opted to stay out of the squad that featured in their preseason tour to the United States.

However, after several rounds of talks with the centre-back during the past week, Koscielny insisted on a move to France inciting an agreed deal with Bordeaux.

With Koscielny’s exit now staring Arsenal chiefs in the face, they have sought to bring in 20 year old RB Leipzig defender, Dayot Upamecano as a replacement.

They have made enquiries about the youngster from the Bundesliga club but the German side value the defender at £70 million, a price that presents itself as impossible given the tight budget Arsenal have to work with in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal also maintain interest in Juventus centre-back, Daniele Rugani.

The North London club had a two-year loan offer thrown out the window by the Serie A giants sometime last week.

It is understood that Juventus are holding on to Rugani as an alternative for Chiellini who is struggling with a persistent calf problem.

However, they could be tempted by a permanent deal for the defender but value Rugani at £50 million.

Arsenal who feel the price is too high and instead interested in a loan move.

Arsenal are also willing to let Shkodran Mustafi leave in order to raise funds but the German has made it crystal clear that he intends to stay put at the Emirates.
