Arsenal vs Leicester Preview – Premier League Team Talk October 2018

The premier league is back after a long international break! Unai Emery and his high flying Arsenal team will on Monday 22nd October 2018, host Leicester at the Emirates stadium after a fine run of 9 wins in all competitions this season. They will seek to make it ten out of ten after coming within two points of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool who are joint leaders at the top of the log.

They started the season with 2 consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea respectively much to the frustration of their fans. But with a new run of good form, they are tipped to win at the weekend.

The last meeting between the two was a difficult one as Liecester held on for long periods of the match. Although they eventually lost due to a late Oliver Giroud goal, which was the only goal of the game.

Leicester then got their revenge last May with a 3-1 victory at the King Power Stadium in what was a disastrous outing for former manager, Arsene Wenger and his boys.

Team Talk

Ex-german international Mesut Ozil resumed full training last week after his latest back problem. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who just recovered from a leg fracture, picked up at the opening game of the season.

Goalkeeper Cech has an hamstring injury and will be monitored to determine if he will be fit to play on saturday.

James Maddison is set to return to club duty after his first England call up for the last international break.

Captain Wes Morgan of Leicester will miss the game due to a red card picked up in the last match.

This will be the 140th meeting between these two sides. Arsenal has been the better, winning 65 of those meetings compared to Leicester’s 30, with 44 draws.

Guendouzi, Alex Lacazette and Alex Iwobi are in in fine form for arsenal this season and they are sure to vause problems for Leicester in the game.
