”Atiku Abubakar Has Case To Answer When He Returns From The US” – Lai Mohammed

– PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has been alleged to be involved in the case of collapsed Bank PHB

– Min. Of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed disclosed that the PDP candidate will be investigated on his return from the US

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture in a statement released today disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar will be investigated on his return to Nigeria.

The Minister disclosed that there are cases the PDP candidate has to answer which involves the case of collapsed Bank PHB.

Lai Mohammed disclosed in a meeting with the press that the decision to investigate Atiku Abubakar is as a result of the “following fresh evidence that he benefitted from slush funds that led to the collapse of Bank PHB.”

The Min. Of Information disclosed that the FG has the “paper trail which shows that he benefitted from N156 million.”

“It started from an internal memo dated 13 January 2009 asking that a draft in favour of Atiku Abubakar of 156 million should be raised.”

He added that the Government has proof of documents which includes cheques and bank statement of money paid to an account supposedly belonging to Atiku Abubakar.

Lai Mohammed, however, told Atiku to remain in the US as long he wants but he disclosed that he would be investigated immediately he returns to the country.

Alh. Atiku Abubakar traveled to the United States yesterday for the first time in twelve years on the request of the Africa-US Chamber of Commerce as he is expected to speak at a program organized by the organization today.

Atiku evaded visit to the US for years with previous reports alleging that he was wanted.
