Bakers Threaten Nationwide Strike over Refusal of Millers to Reduce Price of Flours
Bakers all over the country have threatened to embark on an indefinite strike over the refusal of millers to reduce prices of flours despite the fall in price of raw materials. This was contained in a statement issued by the Association of Master Bakers and Caterers Southwest Vice Chairman, Prince Jacob Adejorin. He disclosed that his association had repeatedly met with the flour millers, however, there was no tangible outcome at any point in time.
In consonance with the pleas of the bakers and caterers, the recent federal government intervention in the forex market has forced down the exchange rate of the dollar which in turn have reduced the prices of raw materials which are mostly imported into the country.
