Bandits In Katsina State Kills One Army Officer And 6 Other Civilians

A senior military officer and over six civilians have been reportedly murdered by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Kasai village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State during the past weekend of 16th and 17th of February.

The tragic incident was known to have occurred, weekend, when the bandits invaded the Kasai village, Batsari Local Government ambushed the senior military officer of the rank of Captain and later went after the six people in the state.

iDONSABI also gathers that the bandits were up to the number of 100. They all came out from the dreaded Rugu forest bordering the area to carry out the attack.

Governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police identified as Sule Buba and the Brigadier General of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army identified as Brigadier General Luqman, have come out to pay a condolence visit to Kasai village in Batsari over the bandits’ attack.

While speaking with the governor on the attack at the palace of Magajin Kasai, the transition committee chairman of Batsari council identified as Alhaji Mannir Mu’azu Rumah, stated that the bandits numbering over 100 attacked Kasai Village on Saturday.

Alhaji Mannir also narrated that the bandits initially attacked the military personnel around the area, killing the captain and burning down the operational Hilux vehicle.

He further stressed that the bandits later entered the village and visited the houses of the six people in the state and killed them.

According to him, the bandits ran away with several animals, motorcycles and other valuables.

The Governor has also come out to defend his state by saying that the government had been up and doing, which led to the posting of the joint military, police and other security personnel to keep vigil in the area.

While at the visit, special prayers were said for the soul of those that had died.
