Barcelona and Inter Milan are set to lock horns at Camp Nou on Wednesday evening in what is a clash between two Champion’s league record holding sides. They have both won games in Group B, and the winners of this match between the sides will take a giant step towards the last 16.

Barcelona

Barca have been in a fantastic form in the champion’s league this season by winning PSV Eindhoven 4-0, and subsequently thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at Wembley. Lionel Messi has been in fine form as he netted a hat-trick in the victory against PSV and then pulled the strings throughout at Wembley Stadium as Barca maintained their perfect start in Group B.

But the Argentine is now injured and has been confirmed to miss 3 weeks of football action. This will mean other players will have to try to make him un-missed in the team when they take on Inter.

Barcelona have won all of their home games in the group stage across the last five editions of the competition, except their quarter-final loss to Roma in April which asa matter of fact, is their only defeat home or away in 12 Euro outings.

Domestically however they have faltered against teams like Girona, Leganes, Valnecia and Athletic Bilbao, but they won 4-2 on saturday to end their poor run of form.

Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are likely to flank Luis Suarez in a familiar 4-3-3 setup. Sergi Roberto is likely to come in to replace Nelson Semedo in right back position.

Inter Milan

Also started the champions league on a high with victories against Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven. Although they had to come from behind in the game against Tottenham, they have showed they have what it takes to challenge in the group.

Inter has also managed to rack-up seven wins in a row in all competitions, which ensures that they head to Catalonia on a high note, while going further back it is just one defeat in 10 – coming at home to newly-promoted Parma – since the end of August.

Radja Nainggolan will be absent for Inter after picking up an ankle injury. Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic are also doubts for the match.

Barcelona and Inter have met on just six previous occasions, each coming in the last 15 years.

Barca have won all three previous home matches against Inter, scoring six goals without conceding.

The Catalans took four points off their opponents in the 2002-03 group stage and likewise in 2009-10, before coming out second best later that season when meeting in the semi-finals.
