Barcelona Vs Olympique Lyon UCL 13 March Preview

Barcelona will be aiming to qualify for the next round of the Champions League when they take on Olympique Lyon at the Camp Nou stadium on the back of a 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the LaLiga.

Barcelona

Since the reverse fixture which ended in a goalless draw was played, Barcelona have gone on to take Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey competition and opened a seven point lead over Atletico Madrid in second place.

They are also twelve points above Real Madrid in the league thanks to an outstanding win over the Galacticos in a thrilling El Clasico encounter.

After a series of stalemates before the first leg, Barcelona now have their attack firing on all cylinders once again even without the likes of Dembele and Rakitic on the turf.

Although, the Catalans might look set to win the league but it is Champions League victory which remains their top priority.

Olympique Lyon

Lyon have shown themselves worthy and credible competitors in the Champions League this term having drawn Barcelona in the first leg of this tie and defeating English Champions, Manchester City in the group stages of the competition.

That said, their away form hasn’t been as good as their home form. At home, they have lost just one of their last 14 European games while their away form is a far-cry from what it is there in France.

The Camp Nou has become a fortress for Barcelona in recent years but Lyon looks set to cause an upset in the 80,000-capacity stadium.

A draw other than a goalless one would take Lyon through and doesn’t look too much of a mountain to climb.

Team News

Barcelona also will be missing Samuel Umtiti, Arthur Melo, Rafinha, Jasper Cilessen and Thomas Vermaelen due to injuries.

Lyon will be without the services of their captain, Nabil Fekir.
