Bauchi: Gov. Abubakar Recruited 1,200 ‘Unqualified Persons’ to Sabotage my Efforts, Governor-elect alleges

……Most of those employed were transferred from LGA in order to circumvent laid down procedures of employment into the civil service

…. The governor-elect and his team were yet to come to terms with the fact that they would soon take office.

The Bauchi State Governor-elect, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has accused incumbent governor, Mohammed Abubakar, of taking last-minute decisions aimed at sabotaging the incoming administration.

According to Mohammed, the decision of the outgoing administration to recruit over 1,200 “unqualified persons” into the state civil service, the hurried creation of additional districts, villages and hamlets and the alleged appointment of the governor’s cronies to head them, were clear acts of sabotage.

Speaking through the Head, Transition Media Team, Ladan Salihu, at a media briefing in Abuja, on Friday, the governor-elect said in the last five days alone, Governor Abubakar has employed over 1,200 unqualified individuals into the civil service and deployed them across state-owned tertiary institutions and MDAs.

“Information available to us indicates that most of those employed were transferred from local government councils in order to circumvent laid down procedures of employment into the civil service.

“As I speak to you, laws are being enacted by the State House of Assembly designed to clearly assist officers of the outgoing government to escape the long arm of the law for serious acts of corruption while in office,” he said.

Reacting to the allegation,  Governor Abubakar, who dismissed allegations levelled against his administration said the governor-elect and his team were yet to come to terms with the fact that they would soon take office.

The governor, who spoke through his Special Adviser (Media), Ali M. Ali, aid, “The governor-elect’s team is just crying wolf where there is none. It must come to terms with the fact that until May 29th, this administration is still in charge.”
