Damilola Adegbite is a popular Nigerian actress, model, television personality and entrepreneur, best known for her role in the soap opera ‘Tinsel‘. She’s one of Nollywood’s finest actresses who exude excellence and uniqueness through their acting roles.
Early life and background of Damilola Adegbite
She was born on the 18th of May, 1985 in Surulere, Lagos State. Her Mum was a teacher while her father worked with the civil service. She was born into a family of four. For her secondary school education, She attended Queen’s College in Yaba, Lagos. Proceeding to the tertiary education, she studied Business Administration at Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State.
Her Acting Career
Just like her contemporaries, she developed interest in acting at an early age. She had always wanted to be in the entertainment industry. While in Queen’s College, Yaba, Damilola served as the Vice President of the school dramatic society between 2001 and 2002. As a teen, she was part of her church drama group. Damilola kick-started her acting career shortly after writing her final exams at the university. Her aunt informed her about an audition and she decided to give it a shot. Her first acting stint was on popular soap opera Tinsel. She got the role of ‘Thelema Duke’ in the TV series.
Her outstanding acting skills caught the attention of producers who featured her in their movies. Damilola’s acting prowess grew beyond Tinsel thus making her feature in several other acting projects, most of which were cinematic productions. The screen goddess has starred in movies like Flower girl, Heaven’s Hell, 6 Hours to Christmas, Merrymen: The Real Yoruba Demons, Isoken amongst others. The Tinsel star has worked as a red carpet host and program anchor for Sound City Television from 2008 – 2010. She also anchored The Chatroom and Global Countdown.
Damilola Adegbite has featured in media commercials for Nestle and Brilliance motors where she played a lead role in the TV commercial. The independent-minded damsel founded Damiville and Kasham by Adedamee, a store that offers aromatherapy and sells accessories and make up products. Damiville is located in Lekki, Lagos State Nigeria.

The on-going series, Tinsel which has reached its One-thousandth episode has birthed several romantic relationships which mostly ended up in marriage. In August 2014, Damilola Adegbite got engaged to Chris Attoh, a fellow actor she met on set of the series. The diva and fellow actor who played romantic partners in the series ended up being real-life partners. In September 2014, the couple welcomed their son Brian Nii Ayittey Olaferomi Attoh. On February 14, 2015, Chris and Damilola tied the knot in Accra, Ghana.
In September 2017, news broke that Damilola’s marriage to husband Chris Attoh had crashed. Many rumours and speculations sprung up stating infidelity and family differences as cause of divorce. Reports of family differences surfaced in the media because of the fact that Chris and Damilola were of different nationalities; Ghana and Nigeria respectively. In an interview with BBC pidgin, the mother of one stated that she is not ready to remarry.
On relationships and marriage, she said,
“These people won’t let me rest. I was advised to settle down, I tired it and it didn’t work out. I had thought that after my failed marriage, people would let me be. But I goofed. They are still on this marriage case. Everyone should learn to mind their business, there are other things going on around the world at the moment.
Let that love wait (laughs). Life at 34, it is so sweet. As I get older, I’m becoming fresher and aging backwards. I pity anybody that wants to pay my dowry and marry me now. You would have to sweat it out. But surely enjoy it all.”
