Ikechukwu Mitchel Ogbonna, professionally known as IK Ogbonna, is a Nigerian actor, model, director and TV personality. He has risen to become one of Nollywood’s celebrated actors.
Early life and background of IK Ogbonna
Born on the 11th of January, 1984 in Abia State, Nigeria, IK Ogbonna is second in the family of four children. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos, Nigeria. While in secondary school, he was so good in Fine Arts that he won the Milo awards for Fine Arts. On completion of his primary and secondary education, he proceeded to study Sociology at the University of Jos. Upon graduation from the University, he delved into acting.
His Career
IK Ogbonna commenced his career in entertainment as a model. He has always loved modeling since childhood days. Then he fell in love with tattoos, ear rings and girls. After his tertiary education, he participated in the Amstel malta box office (AMBO) show. Though he didn’t emerge winner, he gained recognition from the show as he got some endorsement deals with brands. IK was once the face of his school’s magazine. He moved to Lagos in 2005/2006 to advance his modeling career. He modeled for the likes of Alexander Amosu, Wise Men Apparel, David Bello, designers from Ghana and UK. He stopped runway modeling to focus on TV commercials, bill boards and editorials. The fair-skinned actor made a foray into TV presenting before landing roles in Secrets and Scandals. His role in Rukky Sanda’s lovelorn gained him recognition and increased his fan base. Since then, he has featured in over 100 Nollywood movies including Playing safe, 30 days in Atlanta, Disguise, Washerman and others.

The sexy actor bagged a multi-million naira endorsement deal with Dorco shaving stick in 2016. He was formerly brand ambassadors for Rakkaan perfume in Dubai and Globacom.
Controversy
The thespian was once rumoured to be gay. He debunked the rumours in an interview, his ex-wife also condemned the claims stating that people normally assume handsome men are homosexuals which is not right, according to her, she knows a gay when she sees one. The movie star threatened to file a lawsuit against a US-based social media personality identified as Joyce who is the harbinger of the gay rumours.

The award winning Nollywood actor was once married to a Colombian model, Sonia Morales. Before his marriage to Sonia, he was romantically involved with Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim. In 2018, there were speculations that the marriage between the movie producer and Colombian actress had gone south. A year later, Sonia revealed on her instagram page that they were officially divorced. The union is blessed with a child.
