Having amassed 6.27 million subscribers and gotten 1,299,674,577 views on his YouTube channel, Mark Angel is no doubt the most successful Nigerian comedian today without ever hosting a physical show or event.
Early life and background of Mark Angel
Mark Angel was born on the 27th of May, 1991 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. After completing his primary and secondary education, he proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to study medicine but left due to family issues.
His Rise to Fame
In pursuit of his dreams, Mark Angel moved to Lagos where he learnt photography for a while before leaving to study cinematography and comedy production in India. There, he joined the theatre Gingertainment as a stage performer and comedian. On return to Nigeria, he made attempt at working in Nollywood but it was furtive. His resilience saw him start his own production company, Mechanic Pictures in 2013. The establishment aimed at creating photos and videos for YouTube.
MarkAngelComedy, a weekly comedy skit published on YouTube kicked off on June 29, 2013. In 2014, Mark Angel came to limelight after featuring in the popular comedy skit “Oga Landlord” alongside Emmanuella. Oga Landlord focuses on a man who owes rent (Angel) who is trying to hide from his landlord (Daddy Humble), and tries in vain to have a child (Emmanuella) cover for him (e.g. “My uncle is not around. He just told me.”). The content creator cites Basketmouth and Kelvin Harts as his biggest role models. Besides comedy, Mark Angel has exhibited his writing skills by writing scripts for comedians.

Mark Angel is currently engaged to a beautiful lady, Dammy. Dammy had sometimes appeared in few of his comedy skit as Success’ mother. There were reports that Mark Angel and Dammy both welcomed a baby girl, named Milla Angel on the 15th May 2018. Most times, he post his daughter’s picture on instagram with funny captions.
