Early life and background of Mercy Aigbe
Mercy Aigbe was born on the 1st of January, 1978 in Edo State, Nigeria, to Pa Aigbe and Mrs Abisola Grace Owodunni, as the second child of three children. The actress who speaks fluent Yoruba actually hails from Edo State. After completing her elementary education, she attended Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School in Ikeja, Lagos. The beautiful thespian went ahead to obtain an OND in Financial Studies from the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State. She also holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos.
Her Rise to Fame
Mercy had always liked acting since she was a child. Being good at Maths and science subjects, her dad wanted her to study Accounting. Her father was stern on her as he insisted none of his children will become actors. She once revealed that she had to beg and appease him with a goat in order to get his approval on her acting career. In a bid to please her dad, she worked as a marketer at a bank though her passion was still acting. After a while, she quit the job to focus on her acting career.
The fair-skinned star made her acting debut in movie titled “Ara” in 2006. Since her breakout movie, Mercy has become one of the most sought after Yoruba actresses.
