Gbemi Anthonia Adefuye, popularly known as Toni Tones is a Nigerian media personality, actress, photographer and singer. She became famous for her character role “Eniola Salami” in blockbuster movie King of boys. The acclaimed actress is known for her chic and timeless fashion style. Her spectacular performances in movies have earned her one of the most sought after actresses in Nollywood today.
Early life and background of Toni Tones
Toni Tones was born on the 20th of July, 1985, as the youngest child in a family of five. For her early education, she attended Our Lady of Apostle Primary School and Queen’s College, Lagos. She bagged a degree in Marketing and Economics from the University of Lancaster, UK. In a bid to hone her acting skills, she attended Relativity Film School in Los Angeles. Having a model’s mien, she modeled for Dakova and other brands at age 14.
Her Career
The King of boys star developed interest in photography in her last year at the university. Her passion for photography saw her getting mentored and coached by Subby and Sinem for three months. On completion of her education, she returned to Nigeria in 2009 to kick-start her career in the entertainment industry. Prior to this, Toni Tones had auditioned for Checkmate in her formative years and her mother had shown displeasure at her interest in acting. Having a brother as a musician with the Oxygen band also heightened her interest in becoming a showbiz photographer. Her parents supported her dreams on grounds of she completing her education.
Back in Nigeria, she became a photography style icon focusing on fashion and entertainment. Her portfolio caught the attention of D’banj thus availing her the opportunity of working on D’banj’s reality show, Koko mansion. This brought her to limelight thereby advancing her career. The media personality has worked with different magazines like FAB, MADE, Sound City, Genevieve, Vanguard’s Allure, e.t.c. She has also worked with personalities like Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Don Jazzy, Waje, Wizkid, Omawumi e.t.c
After 3 years of practising photography, she decided to delve into the world of music in 2011. In 2013, she released her first official single “I know what you like” under the Mavin Records. 2016 saw her releasing another single Hey Boy featuring Cynthia Morgan. The renowned photographer dipped her toes in the waters of Nollywood by featuring in the Web TV series “Gidi-culture“; MNET’s hit series telenovela, Forbidden, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, Lara and the Beat, King of boys, Your Excellency etc. She has also worked alongside Sola Sobowale, Bovi, Seyi Shay, Osas Ighodaro and others. Toni Tones alongside Falz hosted The 2019 Future Awards Africa. The lovely songstress cited her mother, Beyonce, Meryl Streep and Viola Davis as great influences on her career.
Toni Tones Relationship
Not much is known about her relationship. She once broke a relationship on the first date. Her date had belittled her career reiterating the need for her to be with him whenever he’s on his business trips. Since then, The Nollywood star has managed to keep her relationship off the social scene. In a series of tweets, she shared her thoughts on what most women want. She wrote:
“People are quick to assume they know what I want with my life because I defend the decisions of other women. If I say “some women don’t want kids and that’s okay”, that doesn’t mean I never want kids. It means I recognise all women are entitled to make their own life choices.
“I have a big platform and I know this. So sometimes I use it to speak up on behalf of friends, family, or even strangers. What I share isn’t always reflective of how I live my life or the decisions I make/will make. I just share what I think needs to be read or known.
Women don’t always have to follow the status quo. Women don’t have to have kids or get married. Women don’t have to wait till marriage to have sex. Women should always have autonomy over their own body. Women don’t have to do what you want them to do.

According to an online source, Toni Tones was named the second highest earning actor of 2018/2019. She’s rated as one of the richest and most influential celebrities in Nigeria.
