Bode George Berates Fashola Over 2023 Presidency Comment

Chief Bode George, a political stalwart and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday admonished the Minister of Power, Works, and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to focus on building the infrastructure of the country, and leave the issues of 2023 Presidency. This statement was in response to Fashola’s speech that a vote for President Mohammad Buhari will guarantee a presidential slot for the southwest in 2023.

Bode George, a former military administrator of Ondo, gave the advise while addressing newsmen on Saturday. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Bode George was reacting to a statement made by Fashola was canvassing for votes in Ibadan for the continuity of the present Government. Fashola had said at a town hall meeting on infrastructure“Do you know that power is rotating to the South West after the completion of Buhari’s tenure if you vote for him?

“A vote for Buhari in 2019 means a return of power to the South West in 2023. I am sure you will vote wisely,” Bode George, in his statement to newsmen in Abuja, said the Minister is barking up to the wrong tree as the roads in the country were begging to be fixed. He added that the Minister should fix these bad roads rather than postulating about elections in 2023.

He also noted that the roads leading to the Lagos port are badly in need of repairs and the Minister should focus on repairing those roads in order to boost the economy.

“Fashola is the Minister of Works. Look at the key major roads from the ports, they are in deplorable state and these roads are the gateway to the nation’s economy.

“It costs a container to be moved from Apapa ports to Tin- Can to Ikeja N1million. Just one container and that is what it will cost the same container from Shanghai in China to Lagos.
