ENYO Invests N8bn In Downstream Business

A group of Nigerian investors have invested N8billion in downstream retail business with the aim of expanding market share in the downstream sub-sector of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.

The group, operating under ENYO Retail and Supply Ltd, is led by its Chairman, Mr Tunde Folawiyo.


Obey Orders, Be Loyal Or Resign, Buratai Tells Officers, Soldiers

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Buratai, on Wednesday, gave officers and men of the Nigerian Army with doubtful loyalty to, the Federal Government Friday deadline to resign from the service.

Buratai gave the ultimatum at an expanded weekly meeting with Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOCs) and some field commanders at the army headquarters in Abuja.

He said ““Should any officer or soldier have doubts as to his loyalty to the Nigerian State as presently constituted, such a person has up to Feb. 22, 2019, to resign. ”

“There is no room for indiscipline or disobedience to lawful orders in the Nigeria army today.”


PDP Cautions Buratai Against Dragging Military Into Politics

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday cautioned the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to refrain himself from acts or actions that would suggest in any way that the military has become an arm of a political Party under the present dispensation in the country.

The party declared that Gen. Buratai’s allusion to its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as well as his threats to officers and ranks to execute the unlawful order by President Muhammadu Buhari to participate in the electoral process was an aberration of our laws and a recipe for crisis.


Don’t Use Military To Intimidate Nigerians, Gani Adams Tells Buhari

Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari not to use the military architectures to intimidate Nigerians from exercising their franchise in the Presidential and National Assembly elections holding nationwide this Saturday.

Aare Adams made this call in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, insisting that the use of military during elections was arbitrary and a ploy to undermine Nigeria’s democracy, just as he declared that the country was not a banana republic whereby the Federal Government would strategically foist the military on the citizens during elections.


Kogi PDP Stakeholders Raise Alarm Over Insecurity

Ahead of the Saturday’s rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Kogi State on Wednesday raised fresh alarm over the frightening political tension in the state and demanded for extra security measures in the state.

At the stakeholders’ media conference, were two former governors of the state, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim Idris and Captain Idris Wada, former acting governor of the state, Hon. Clarence Olafemi, Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Mr Yomi Awoniyi, former deputy governor of the state and some House of Representatives were in attendance.


Results Sheet For Kwara Found In FCT, Lagos In Kwara ― REC

Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mallam Garba Madami, has said that the results sheet meant for the state for last Saturday’s postponed presidential and National Assembly elections was mistakenly taken to the commission’s office at the Federal capital Authority (FCT), Abuja.

Addressing party agents at the commencement of distribution of sensitive election materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ilorin to local government areas on Wednesday, Madami, said that similarly, the one meant for Lagos was mistakenly delivered in Kwara State, while that of Lagos state was taken to Nasarawa State.


Police Arraign 5 Domestic Staff For Allegedly Stealing Jewellery Worth N105m

The police on Wednesday arraigned five domestic workers who allegedly broke into their employer’s room and stole gold jewellery valued at N105 million, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged Segun Akintola, 49; Tomisin Alade, 28; Felicia Musa, 23; Amaka Irozuru, 38 and Zakara Yau, 38, with five counts of conspiracy, housebreaking, stealing and possession of a stolen item.

The police prosecutor, Insp Raphael Donny, told the court that the defendants conspired and broke into the bedroom of their employer, Mrs Oluyemisi Wada, who travelled abroad and stole her gold jewellery worth N105 million.


Buhari Swears In New Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday administered the oath of office on eight new Permanent Secretaries in the federal civil service with an admonition for them to support the government to achieve its objectives.

Performing the ceremony shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja, he also warned them to remain above partisanship to enable them to carry out their duties appropriately.


INEC Boss Disagrees With Buhari On Ruthless Actions Against Ballot Box Snatchers

National chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has faulted the pronouncement of President Muhammadu Buhari that party thugs with the motive to snatch ballot boxes would pay with their lives.

He said: “You asked if ballot box snatchers can be shot at sight. The position of the Commission is that all violators of the Electoral Act should be punished according to the provisions of the electoral act.”


We Are Ready For Saturday Presidential, NASS Elections ― INEC

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu on Wednesday said his Commission was almost ready for the presidential and national assembly elections rescheduled for Saturday.

He further assured the gathering of newsmen, local and international observers that his Commission has been making good progress on logistics.
