Court Sentences 18-Yr-Old Student To 1 Month In Prison For Cybercrime

Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi of FCT High Court Gudu, sentenced an 18-year-old student, to one month in prison for engaging in cybercrime activities.

Onuoha pleaded guilty and was convicted on a count charge of cybercrime contrary and punishable under section 95 of the Penal Code.

Osho-Adebiyi however, gave the convict an option to pay N30,000 fine.


Alleged Rape: Court Remands Father Pending DPP Advice

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan has remanded a father, Phillip Iyiola, 43, who allegedly raped his two daughters, pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Chief Magistrate E.A Idowu, ordered the remand of Iyiola at Agodi Federal Prison pending the outcome of the case file with the DPP.


Attempted Rape: Woman Arraigned For Allegedly Stabbing Cleric To Death

A 25-year-old woman, Gift Daniel, appeared in an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stabbing a man to death.

The deceased, identified as Taofeek Olumoro, 52, a cleric was alleged to have met his fate while trying to rape the lady.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. Kusanu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Kasanu, however, ordered that the case file is duplicated and forwarded to the office of the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. The case was adjourned until March 27 for the DPP’s advice.


Enforce Court Order, Stop My Persecution, Maina Tells EFCC

The embattled Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reform, Mallam Abdulrasheed Maina has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to enforce the Federal High Court order stopping his unjust prosecution.

He has accordingly, called on the president and founder, Human Rights Radio and Brekete Family, Ordinary Ahmed Isah, to intervene in the case between him and the EFCC, ensuring that his long protracted and unjust persecution since December 2012 is brought to an end.


Elections: We Won’t Allow Politicians To Use Us ― ASUU

As Presidential and National Assembly elections hold nationwide tomorrow, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said they would not allow the politicians to use its members in whatever manner against the lawful performance of their roles as the ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It will be recalled that some of them will be collation officers at the local government level while some will serve as returning officers at the state level.


INEC Completes Movement Of Election Materials To 23 LGAs In Rivers

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday completed the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials to all the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers.

The materials were conveyed from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Port Harcourt by relevant authorities to the 23 local government areas where the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly would hold on Saturday.


Bauchi INEC Ready For Saturday’s Election As Sensitive Materials Arrive 20 LGAs

All is now set for the conduct of the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections in Bauchi state as every sensitive materials (ballot papers, results declaration sheets and others) have been delivered to 20 local government areas INEC offices across the state from where they would further be distributed by the Electoral Officers to the 212 Registration Areas in the state which is made up of 4074 polling units to the 5,425 Voting Points.

This was confirmed by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Public Enlightenment, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Bauchi State, Ahmed Waziri.


Amosun’s Aide Dies, SSG Survives In Autocrash

An aide to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Niyi Adesanya, has died in a fatal accident.

Adesanya, popularly known as ‘Friend of the Governor’ until his death was a Consultant to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Political Affairs.

The deceased also served in the first term in office of Governor Amosun.


Police IG Explains Reasons For Arrests In Kano, Kwara

The Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mohammed Adamu, on Friday in Abuja said the suspects arrested in connection with the killings in Kwara and Kano states had nothing to do with their political parties’ affiliations.

Adamu explained this while answering questions at a media briefing where he featured alongside the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on the commission’s preparations for Saturday’s national elections.

He said that the suspects, who happened to be candidates participating in Saturday’s elections, were arrested for having a connection with the crisis in the two states, and that they needed to defend themselves.


Buhari, APC Violating Peace Accord ― Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has said the President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) have declared war on the main opposition party leaders across the country, thus violating the peace accord signed by the political parties.

The party boss, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, declared the accord dead as according to him, all the terms of the agreement for peace have been broken by the ruling APC who he noted has deployed military and the Police operatives to arrest and detain PDP leaders across the country.

Babatunde Omidina popularly known as ‘Baba Suwe’ has been admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi Araba, Lagos.

Mr Bolaji Amusan, the National President, Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), disclosed this on Friday in Lagos.
