1. Governor Udom Emmanuel Shares out N62m for Christmas

Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has shared out the sum of N62 million and 3,100 bags of rice as Christmas package to youths and women across the 31 LGAs of the state.

Emmanuel made this donation at the end-of-year get-together party for youths in the state at Eket Senatorial District on Sunday.
Emmanuel told the youths that he came to celebrate Christmas with them and since it is Christmas, he didn’t come empty handed.

He ended by saying that he didn’t come to the Senatorial District to campaign but to celebrate Christmas.

2. SERAP Appeals to UN Over ASUU Strike

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP has appealed to the UN to “prevail” upon the government of President Buhari and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to reach an agreement on the negotiations to end the long going strike by ASUU, which has violated the right to higher education, as guaranteed by the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, to which Nigeria is part of.

3. I’ve Been Sidelined by My Governor – Zamfara Deputy Governor

The Deputy Governor of Zamfara state, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, has cried out that his Governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari, has sidelined him.

For months now, he said several legal funding that were supposed to be made to his office as Deputy Governor had been stopped and his office totally sidelined by the State Governor.
In his words, “this attitude against me started since I indicated interest to run for the Governorship of the State on the platform of our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC. I know that nothing stops me as a citizen from contesting for any elective position”.

4. The Mood of the Nation to Determine Presidency- Ekweremadu

According to Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, no single Geo-political Zone can decide to take the presidency and succeed at it.
What has happened over the years is that, the presidency of the country is dependent on the mood of the nation. In 1999, the mood of the nation was for a Southern President from the Western part of Nigeria which was how Obasanjo became the President.
He said same was the case for Yar’Adua who died and ushered in Jonathan who was later ousted by President Buhari.
According to Ekweremadu, his prediction is that in 2023, the mood of the nation would be for a President of Igbo extraction.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu is the most senior South-Easterner in the Nigeria political structure.

5. FG to Immortalize Shagari – President Buhari

The Federal Government says it will in due course immortalize the country’s first Executive President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who passed away on Dec. 28 with a suitable memorial.

The government also directed that all flags at public and private premises be flown at half mast for 3 days, starting from Sunday in honour of the late former President.

6. Don’t Take APC Serious About Handing Over to Igbos in 2023 – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has warned Nigerians to give the Igbo a chance at the presidency in 2023.
He said that out of the three major regions in the country, the South-East is yet to occupy the presidency. He called on the Igbo to work together now that they stand a chance with their son, Peter Obi as the vice presidential candidate of PDP. He said that the success of the elections hold great possibilities for the Igbos.

The former President made all these known during a stakeholders meeting at Ukpor, Nnewi-South LGA of Anambra State, in the residence of a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazuluke Amechi.

8. GLO Overtakes Airtel as Nigeria’s Second Largest Telco

Globacom has emerged as the second biggest GSM Company in Nigeria by the number of subscribers with a 26% market share.
Industry statistics from the Nigerian Communications Commission showed that Globacom displaced Airtel, which now owns a 25% market share, in November 2018.
However, MTN Nigeria remains the biggest network provider in the country with 40% market share while 9mobile, holds 9% market share.
As of November 2018, Globacom had 154,034 more subscribers than Airtel.
There has been a struggle between the two major network operators in the country, to lay claim on the position of the second biggest Telco in Nigeria.

Hotshot Comedian,Otaghware Otas Onodjayeke popularly known as I Go Save is set for the sixth edition of his comedy show formerly tagged ‘I Go Save Unusual’ and now dubbed ‘I Go Save Unusual’ Champions League.
The supposed Champions League is coming up on January 5, 2019 at Da Civic Centre, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State with a stellar cast of the top names in the comedy business.

According to him, “There will be two great strange occurrences that Nigeria will never forget.”
