Buhari Has Take The Right Step In Stopping Mining in Zamfara – Shehu Sani

– Sani lauds Buhari for suspending mining in Zamfara state.

– He lambasted Governors elites for not performing their constitutional roles.

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for cancelling mining activities in Zamfara state.

Zamfara has witnessed killings by armed bandits over the weeks with over 100 reportedly killed by unknown gunmen.

While noting vis his Twitter that the effort made by president Buhari will not be enough, the lawmaker said it is necessary to end banditry in the Northeastern state.

“Suspension of mining activities is a good step in ending illegal mining, but a nonstarter in ending Banditry. The nation is at war; the moral, historical and constitutional calling at times like this is for the leadership to frontally rise to the occasion in defence of this republic”

Sani also stated that the killings across Nigeria stem from situations in which the political class and governing elites place more emphasis on political power than the lives of the common people, adding that they are pampering power which he described as tragic.

“Political power is more important to the Governing elites and the Political class than the lives of the common people. The consequences of petting and pampering power when it should be consciously questioned and charged is always tragic.”

The senator also noted that “a nation has lost its soul and humanity when it only has to take a public outrage, rebuke, and objection for its Leaders to respond to the tragedy of its people.
