Casemiro Holds Super Eagles To A Draw After Tantalising Joe Aribo Goal

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been held to a 1-1 draw following an equalizer by Real Madrid’s Casemiro in an entertaining friendly between the Super Eagles and the Selecaos of Brazil.

The Nigerian team took the lead in the 35th minute through Glasgow striker, Joe Aribo who made a solo run into the box against the run of play.

Aribo then smashed home from close range to give Nigeria the lead. The Selecaos soon made it an even game three minutes after the interval as Casemiro stabbed home the rebound after Marquinho’s header unluckily went for the woodwork.

This draw would mean Brazil are still without a win in their last four outings. The major point of concern for the South Americans would however be Neymar limping off in the 12th minute.

The Parisian who had been plagued by injuries in the past few months sustained another and could be condemned to another spell at the sidelines.

Nigeria got off on the front foot with Lille forward, Victor Osimhen attempting to drag the Nigerians ahead with a shot on target. However, his shot was saved by the Selecaos goalkeeper, Ederson Moraes who regularly features for English club, Manchester City.

The Super Eagles dictated the pace of the game thereafter, containing the South American nation.

They continued in this fashion until Brazil got their own clear sight of goal.

They had an attempt on goal through Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus but his header was well saved by Nigeria’s goalie, Francis Uzoho.

Brazil then dominated for the next set of minute. That said, it was Nigeria who got on the score sheet first after Joe Aribo made a tantalising mazy run through the defensive setup of the South Americans.

Casemiro then cut their celebrations short three minutes after the break.

For a period, it had looked like Nigeria could get the lead again but Osimhen lost his chance in the 52nd minute.

Nigeria’s goalie sustained an injury and was replaced by debutant Maduka Okoye with Osimhen making way for Paul Onuachu.

The Super Eagles were however not able to find the net once again and would just head out of the game with a satisfying draw.
