Celta Vigo Vs Barcelona LaLia 04 May Preview

Barcelona take on Celta Vigo at the Nou Camp having being crowned Spanish Champions and having one foot in the Champions league finals. Celta on the other hand still have a lot to play for as they are not assured of top-flight football come next season.

Celta Vigo

Since their 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the reverse fixture, Celta have gone on a poor run of form that has seen them lose 10 of their last 12 games between December 22 and 16 March.

However, they are now a much more improved side with only one defeat in their last seven games. That run has seen them go up to 15th place, only two points better than Real Valladolid in the final relegation slot.

They would be bolstered by the fact that they have won their last three home league games but also know that getting a win against Barcelona would always be a huge mountain to climb.

That said, their home ground has been a fortress of some sorts against the Catalans with the latter failing to record a win there in their last three visits.

Barcelona

The Catalans have now been crowned Spanish Champions with three matches to spare meaning they have lifted the title eight times in the last 11 seasons and five in the last seven.

A domestic double has become a common scenery for fans of the Catalan club these days with the Laliga title already secured and a place in the Copa del Rey finals already but it is the Champions league that they really want.

Despite overcoming Liverpool with a 3-0 scoreline in the first leg of their tie, Valverde will be wary of the Reds staging any comebacks against them like Roma had done last time out and would like to rest some feet with Lionel Messi most notable of them.

They are now on a run of 23 matches without defeat and five wins on the bounce and are in the safest position to afford Messi some rest ahead of the second leg scheduled for next week.
