Chelsea Latest Transfer News – Three players expected to sign in January

Chelsea were defeated 1-0 by Liecester City yesterday at Stamford Bridge and this has generated calls for Chelsea to strengthen to their squad in January and they’ve been linked with a huge triple swoop in the next transfer window.

It is also popular among pundits that Chelsea could move for Jamie Vardy – the man whose single goal at the Bridge on Saturday ensured it was defeat for Maurizio Sarri’s men in the final game before Christmas.

Mr Sarri signed four players in the last summer window but now that he’s had half a season to see what he has at his disposal, it looks like the board and other management staff have to start preparing for the Winter transfer window as Chelsea need to sign some more players to plug some holes.

And that certainly looks to be correct if the latest rumours and gossip around Chelsea are to believed, with several big names continuing to be linked with the side.

The following names are being repeatedly mentioned:

Jamie Vardy or Robert Lewandowski

Former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise believes that Chelsea will sign either Vardy or Robert Lewandowski in January.

Wise told journalists that either would be a useful signing for the side as they look to bolster their attacking options to keep pace with Liverpool and City

He said: “Chelsea will want a striker. Someone who can score goals and at the moment we haven’t got someone who will get 25 goals a season.

“Unfortunately not loads of them about, so it’s about getting the right one. There are a couple of goalscorers they should be willing to pay for, like Lewandowski or Jamie Vardy”.

Nabil Fekir

The links with Lyon star Nabil Fekir just won’t go away and this morning there are are claims that he’s part of a triple swoop of targets that Chelsea are planning in January. As things stand he seems to be the prime target for Chelsea in this coming window.

It claims that the club are hoping to pay less than the fee Liverpool reportedly agreed in the summer for the Frenchman because his contract runs out in the summer of 2020.

Christian Pulisic

The Borrussian Dortmund winger was a prime target in the summer but a move failed to materialise  a report now states that Chelsea are ready to revive that interest in order to boost their attacking options to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool and Manchester City.

Gonzalo Huguain

Another name that’s been frequently mentioned is Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentinean forward is reportedly being negotiated for with AC Milan to swap him with Alvaro Morata. Chelsea have reportedly run out of patience with the latter and are prepared to ship him out for better attacking prospects.

The Winter transfer window opens on January 1st 2019.
