Chelsea Vs Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup 27 January Preview

Chelsea will be thrilled by the thought of playing lowly Sheffield Wednesday when they face off today, in front of their own fans at the Stamford Bridge. But games are only decided on the field of play right? Let’s take a look at the teams involved and see how much of an upset Sheffield would need to cause here to see off Chelsea.

Maurizzio Sarri couldn’t hide his feelings as the Italian gaffer openly criticized his players after their match against Arsenal, one they lost by 2-0.

However, event soon turned around after buying Gonzalo Higuain. Although, the Argentine didn’t feature in their last outing the Blues responded with some fine performance against Tottenham who they knocked out of the competition via penalties.

That said, a point man like Higuain will relieve Hazard of the goal scoring responsibilities he’s had to shoulder this season and could give Chelsea that bit of edge in the attacking third.

Steve Bruce would have to take charge of this one as the manager was brought in to replace interim manager, Lee Bullen.

That said, the Yorkshire side haven’t done so badly for themselves in their last eight games with four wins and eight draws in eight matches across all competitions under the interim manager.

But one stat that stands out is that Sheffield have failed to score more than of in any of the games with Lee at the helm of affairs. However, their backline must be praised for being very solid. They have conceded only in three of those matches played under the interim manager.

Whether Steve Bruce could stir up the team to win against the London Blues is what we never call tell – not just yet.
