Chelsea Vs Watford EPL 05 May Preview

Chelsea welcome Watford to the Stamford Bridge knowing fully well that a win cold potentially seal their top-four finish on the league standings. Watford on the other hand are vying for a seventh placed finish which could fetch them some European football come next season.

Maurizio Sarri will be delighted that his side are close to achieving their target of qualifying for next season’s Champions League on two fronts with one of them being an Europa league win.

The London Blues have squandered their chances of placing one foot in the Europa finals having being held to a 1-1 draw bi Eintracht Frankfurt. That said, their away goal by give them an advantage heading into the second game to be played at the Bridge.

Chelsea’s biggest problems are coming in defence with injuries to their centre-backs meaning that they have now gone five matches without a clean sheet.

While this might give Watford encouragement in front of goal they will also not be naïve as to the threat that Chelsea’s attack presents.

Watford have spent most parts of the season contending for a seventh-place finish but four defeats in seven outings have seen them drop to 10th place.

The Hornets however have another chance to qualify for next season’s Europa league with a win over Manchester City in the FA Cup finals but Garcia’s side will be pushing for victories in his last two league fixtures.

Watford would have to cut out mistakes at the back if they are to come out with anything from their game against Chelsea.
