Samuel Chukwueze has joined Roc Nation Sports, a subsidiary of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation – an entertainment company becoming the first Nigerian and second African player to join the sports management agency owned by the legendary rap icon.
The 20 year old joins Manchester United duo of Eric Bailly and Romelu Lukaku, Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Borussia Dortmund’s Axel Witsel in the list of football stars associated with the agency.
Asides football, the entertainment company also houses stars in basketball, baseball, athletics, boxing and American football.
Chukwueze had a breakthrough season last term featuring for Laliga side, Villareal where he scored five goals in 26 appearances.
The young lad also featured for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt where he was hugely impressive becoming the youngest player to score a goal at the tournament after scoring his side’s first goal in their 2-1 win over South Africa at the quarterfinal stage.
The Villareal winger made this announcement on social media where he wrote:
“Excited to announce that with @10manage, we are joining the @rocnationsports family! Big things coming #RocFam.”
A performance that earned him a call up to his country national team – few years after winning the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Chukwueze who is currently on an extended holiday is yet to join his Villarreal teammates for pre-season training after his recent international commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 20 year old will be hoping to make a return to Javier Calleja’s team ahead of their league opener against Granada on August 17.
idonsabi.com also reported that his teammate Victor Osimhen made a switch to Ligue 1 side, Lille where he signed a five-year deal.
The 20 year old who was at Lille on loan last season found the net 12 times in 25 appearances earning him the transfer and replacement for departed Rafael Leao.
