Just In: Court Extends Naira Marley’s Stay In Prison

 

Naira Marley remanded in prison following a court order.

A Federal High Court presiding in Lagos under the watch of Justice Nicholas Oweibo on Monday ordered the remand in Prison of Rap star artist, Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley.

The court gave a directive that the singer should be remanded in custody of Prison till 30th of May for another hearing of argument on his application for bail after the singer pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against him by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

Naira Marley pleaded not guilty after the counts were read to his hearing, 11  count charge of alleged credit fraud were levied against him by (EFCC) on Tuesday, 14th May.

Let’s run you through count one of the charge, it read: “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yard Isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use access card 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

It might interest to know that if the Naira Marley is convicted on the charge, he will have to serve a jail term of not more than seven years or pay a fine not more than N5,000,000.00.

Meanwhile, before the Court took the decision earlier today, many of his mates in the music industry have taken out to time to plead with the court to temper justice with mercy. But as it is now, all hands will be deck till 30, May when the singer will appear before the court again.
