Court Jails Internet Fraudster In Ibadan For Four Months

A graduate of Criminology and Security Services identified as Adeusi Demola Olatunji, has been sentenced to four months in prison after he was found guilty of an internet-related offence which was filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibadan zonal office.

Justice P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, made it clear that he was guilty of a one-count amended charge of criminal impersonation.

Adeusi Demola, also identified as Piero Luchas, was originally arraigned on a six-count charge to which he pleaded not guilty.

The one-count charge Adeusi was convicted of was consequent upon a plea-bargain agreement he later had with the EFCC.

Adeusi pleaded guilty to the amended charge when it was read to him.

Meanwhile, Adeusi Demola was apprehended on February 8, 2019 at Elebu Oja, Ibadan, Oyo State.

His mode of operation according to EFCC investigations, was to carry himself as Piero Luchas, a white man with email address jeremy.david564@gmail.com,to dupe his victims.

In addition, the offence which Adeusi committed is contrary to Section 22(3) (b) and punishable under Section 22(4) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention) Act 2015.

He then pleaded guilty to the amended charge, and the EFCC counsel identified as  Mabas Mabur, urged the court to accept the plea bargain agreement and convict him accordingly.

Aside from the four months jail term he was given, the convict was also ordered to refund the sum of$1,800 as restitution to one of his victims.

Adeusi will also forfeit his possession which includes an Infinix phone, iPhone 6 and a Toshiba Laptop to the Federal Government of Nigeria, being part of the benefit he derived from his fraudulent act.

Lastly, his conviction takes effect from the day of his arrest.
