Court Sacks APC’s Bayelsa Deputy Gov Candidate Biobarakuma Degi

Ahead of the November 16 governorship election, the Federal High Court in Abuja has disqualified the Bayelsa State deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biobarakuma Degi, from participating in the forthcoming poll.

The judgement was delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1101/2019 instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others.

Justice Ekwo said he found no nexus in the name on his school-leaving certificate, first degree (BA), Masters and the affidavits he swore to the correct his name.

The judge ruled that all his documents bore different names. He was consequently disqualified on the ground that he provided false information to the electoral body to stand for the election.

PDP had sued the Bayelsa APC governorship candidate, David Lyon, Degi-Eremienyo and INEC, seeking Degi-Eremienyo’s disqualification. The court has therefore granted the prayer.

More to come.
