COVID-19 Nigeria Update

An additional 667 new cases of COVID-19 has been recorded by Nigeria in the last 24 hours.

According to the information released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), from the new cases, Lagos, the epicenter of the dreaded virus in the country has 281 cases. Others are Abia-48, Oyo-45, FCT-38, Ogun-37, Enugu-31, Ondo-23, Plateau-21, Edo-19, Delta-18, Rivers-18, Bayelsa-17, Akwa Ibom-17, Kaduna-14, Kano-12, Bauchi-9, Gombe-4, Osun, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kwara have three cases each, Ekiti-2, and Borno-1.

Out of 19,147 confirmed cases, 6,581 patients have been discharged while 487 deaths have been recorded so far.

Lagos discharges 98 COVID-19 patients

Meanwhile, the Lagos state government has released ninety-eight patients undergoing treatment for coronavirus at isolation centers in the state.

This was revealed by the state’s COVID-19 Incident Commander and Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday in a press statement. According to him, those discharged comprised 71 males and 27 females.

Sanwo-Olu said, “Today, 98 fully recovered COVID19Lagos patients; 71 males and 27 females were discharged from our isolation facilities to reunite with the society.

“The patients, 23 from Onikan, 17 from Gbagada, 14 from Agidingbi, one from Paelon Centre (an accredited private facility), four from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, 17 from Eti-Osa (LandMark) and 22 from LUTH isolation Centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19.

“With this, the number number of COVID-19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos has risen to 1283.”
