COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today
With the addition of 220 new cases of COVID19 announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria has now recorded 2388 confirmed cases.
From the new cases, Lagos the epicenter has 52, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 31 in Kaduna, 13 in Sokoto, 10 in Kebbi, 9 in Yobe, 6 in Borno, 5 in Edo and Bauchi, four in Gombe, Enugu, Oyo, three in Zamfara while Nasarawa, Osun, Ebonyi, Kwara, Kano, and Plateau recorded two cases each.
385 people have been discharged while 85 has died.

NAFDAC disassociates self from AXHERBAL
Meanwhile, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has disassociated itself from PAXHERBAL advertorial claim that it has developed a drug for the treatment of COVID-19.
Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratory, which is a Nigerian alternative medicine product manufacturing had issued an advertorial to the public titled: “An official statement by Pax herbal on the treatment of COVID-19” claiming that Pax herbal Clinic has developed a new drug called: PAX CVD PLUS for the treatment of COVID-19 and that the laboratory is working with NAFDAC to speed up approval for the use of the drugs.
However, in a statement released in Abuja by NAFDAC DG, it refuted the collaboration, adding that the laboratory was yet to be registered with the agency or listed for the treatment of COVID-19.
El-Rufai confesses infecting four people with COVID-19
Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai has revealed that he infected four people with the virus during his own period of infection.

The governor made the disclosure at the 24th edition of The Platform, hosted by Poju Oyemade’s Covenant Nation, but he did not name those he infected.
While stating that he was the first case in the state, El-Rufai noted that the dreaded virus is not a joke having contracted it in Abuja. The other four are now okay.
Stop playing politics with COVID-19, health associations tells Kano govt
Some health associations in the country have lambasted the Kano State government over its decision to ease the total lockdown in the state without regard for the mysterious deaths in the state.
While noting that the governor’s action is smacked of politics, the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr. Aliyu Sokomba, said the whole dimension of COVID-19 management in Kano has been drifting gradually from medical interventions to a political power play.
