COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today
Nigeria has recorded another single-day high case of COVID-19 with 386 new cases.
According to the Nigeria Centres for Disease Control (NCDC), 176 were recorded in Lagos, the epicenter. Kano followed with 65 cases, Katsina has 31 cases, 20-FCT, 17-Borno, 15-Bauchi, 14-Nasarawa, 13-Ogun, 10-Plateau, 4-Oyo, 4-Sokoto, 4-Rivers, 3-Kaduna, 2-Edo, 2-Ebonyi, 2-Ondo, 1-Enugu, 1-Imo, 1-Gombe, and 1-Osun.
With the total confirmed cases now 3912 in Nigeria, 679 patients have been discharged while 117 have died.

Minister to release medical report of Benue index case
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, has said the medical report of the British-Nigerian woman, Susan Idoko-Okpe, alleged to be Benue State’s COVID-19 index case will; be released to prove that she tested positive twice for the virus.
56-year-old Idoko-Okpe, from Otukpa in the Ogbadigo Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, but resident in the United Kingdom (UK), claimed that she was neither infected with the virus nor symptomatic.
She said she had been quarantined by the government since March 24 without any evidence that she was infected.
She alleged that the medical report upon which she was quarantined belongs to a 62-year-old woman, Sarah Okpe, from the Otukpo LGA, claiming the owner of the report was tested in Benue for the virus on February 28, while she was still in the UK.
Lagos Commissioner monitors compliance by restaurant operators
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharmacist (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf had embarked on the toring exercise of some eateries and restaurants in the state.
The exercise was carried out to examine the level of compliance with the directive of the government on social distancing and restriction to take-away packs and orders only by eateries and restaurants operating in the state.
The commissioner was accompanied by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku and other senior officials of the Ministry during the visit to about eight Eateries within Ikeja and its environs where they observed over 90 percent compliance level with the government’s order.
PTF targets two million nationwide tests in three months
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has revealed that it is planning tests for two million suspected COVID-19 patients across the country in three months.
According to the PTF, this is achievable with the existing 21 molecular laboratories in the six-geopolitical zones and an additional one that was expected to be activated in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday.

Recall that Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) had donated two Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines (the equipment for testing) to the Rivers State Government for the new laboratory.
This was stated by the Director-General of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, during the PTF daily briefing in Abuja,, saying the centers had been given the mandate to embark on aggressive contact tracing in order to achieve the two million target.
Edo Speaker reveals how he recovered without infecting anybody
Edo State House of Assembly Speaker Frank Okiye has revealed his recovery process from Coronavirus (COVID-19) after 21 days in isolation, saying he was able to beat the virus without infecting anyone with the deadly virus.
Speaking with reporters, Okiye, said all he did to prevent infesting his aides, family members and friends with the virus was strict adherence to government guidelines, especially those on social distancing, compulsory use of face masks, among others.
The Speaker, who is the index COVID-19 case in Edo State, is among the 10 patients who have fully recovered and discharged after testing negative twice for the virus and treated with support from the state government.
