COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today

Nigeria has recorded an additional 226 new cases of COVID-19 in the next 24 hours, making the total confirmed cases to be 6401.

131 was recorded in Lagos, 25 in Ogun, 15 in Plateau, 11 in Edo, 7 in Kaduna 6 in Oyo, 5 in FCT and Adamawa, 4 each in Jigawa, Ebonyi and Borno, 3 in Nasarawa, two each in Bauchi and Gombe, Enugu and Bayelsa have one case each.

From the 6401 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, 1734 have been discharged while 192 deaths have been recorded.

Nasarawa lifts ban on religious centers for two weeks

The Nasarawa Staten Government has lifted ban on worship centers for two weeks.

This was part of the resolutions arrived at during the critical stakeholders meeting to review measures put in place to combat the further spread of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday.

IG rescinds curfew ban on journalists, doctors, others

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu Abubakar has rescinded his order on essential workers, including journalists and doctors, by exempting them from the 8 pm to 6 am nationwide curfew.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Chairman and Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha at the daily press briefing noted that essential workers and those on the frontline were exempted from the curfew, and therefore urged security agencies to enforce the interstate travel ban and curfew while emphasising that essential workers were not to be disturbed.

Mustapha said also assured the essential workers, such as the frontline medical personnel and the media, that they will be adequately protected, adding that they should always carry a valid means of identification.

NAFDAC begins testing of four virus remedy drugs

National Agency for Food Drugs and Administration Control (NAFDAC) has revealed that work has begun on coronavirus potential remedy drugs submitted to it by Nigerians.

NAFDAC Director-General (DG) Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, who disclosed this yesterday explained that the submissions were made after the agency called for expression of interest for the COVID-19 related medicines from researchers and practitioners.

Adeyeye who stated this on a television programme, said the four applications submitted would undergo “due diligence”.
