Minister speaks the use of Chinese drugs

Meanwhile, the medicines brought into the country as gifts by the Chinese government to further strengthen the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19), will go through screening of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) before they are used.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this during the briefing. He further explained that the purpose of the Chinese medical team is to provide technical support for the nation’s healthcare workers, especially on the tactics and strategies they used to reduce the cases of coronavirus in their country.

The Chinese are currently under quarantine.

No need for lockdown extension

Adesunbo Onitiri, a renowned socio-political activist has advised the Federal and Lagos State governments not to extend the ongoing lockdown in Lagos State and Abuja.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu should rather as a matter of urgency, find ways to relax it.

The critic in a press statement in Lagos warned that any extension of the lockdown might lead to aggravated aggression borne out of hunger and immeasurable suffering by the masses.

Onitiri instead said the government should do instead urgently peg the astronomical rise in food prices, provide drugs in government hospitals and offer free healthcare packages for the people.
