COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today
Nigeria has recorded an additional 389 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. With this latest development, the country has crossed the 12000 marks.
Leading the pack is Lagos; the epicentre with 66 cases, FCT-50, Delta-32, Oyo-31, Borno-26, Rivers-24, Edo-23, Ebonyi-23, Anambra-17, Gombe-17, Nasarawa-14, Imo-12, Kano-12, Sokoto-12, Jigawa-8, Ogun-7, Bauchi-5, Kebbi-2, Kaduna-2, Katsina-2, Ondo-2, Abia-1, and Niger state with one case each.

With a total of 12233 confirmed cases,3826 patients have been discharged after testing negative while 342 have died in the process.

FG speaks on reopening of schools
The Federal Government has said that there is no fixed date for reopening of schools shut over the coronavirus pandemic.
This was stated by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, stated this in Abuja during the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 100th-day briefing. He noted that the PTF would continue to monitor situations with a view to preventing a spike in the infection rate, despite the agitations for reopening of schools
“There is no fixed date on the schools’ resumption. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 is studying the situation, carrying out reviews every two and four weeks to access the situation and judge when it is safe.
“The Federal Government is taking very seriously the balance between safety and preventing disease explosion, and the opening of schools.
“We are encouraging schools to embrace online training and education as much as possible.
“As soon as the details are established and the risk of transmission is measured and established, then, schools will reopen.
101 patients released in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Government has confirmed releasing all the 101 isolated coronavirus patients in the state.
This was stated by the Commissioner for Health, Ali Inname, who also confirmed the death of fourteen coronavirus patients in the state so far.

Speaking with reporters, Inname said that since the first index case in the state on April 19, 731 samples had been collected while 655 contacts completed the 14 days of follow-up. after the state’s Taskforce Committee on COVID-19 received 839 alerts from across the state and all of them were investigated.
